I grew up in the transition from analogue to digital and much of my youth was spent playing those early arcade video games with my friends and this created a life long love affair with the pixelated form. This has inspired me to develop a collection that evokes those fond memories of a simpler time: The Pixel Collection.
The Pixel is designed to create a modern yet familiar aesthetic while simultaneously enticing the user to question its construction and material. Each piece is handcrafted from solid tulip wood that is then painstakingly finished to create an entirely seamless almost resinous surface finish that can only fully be appreciated in person.
Depending on which materials you select, the goal is to create a piece that is simultaneously contemporary and retro, with the philosophy that good design should not sacrifice comfort or quality. It is this juxtaposition of angular lines and tactility of the upholstery that truly makes the Hedron a real sensory experience.
In homage to the era that inspired it I have developed a range colours that use my proprietary metal flake system, combining a durable matte finish while adding some extra technicolour zing with colour corresponding metal flakes. Available in 120 or 300 micron the flake system is designed not to overpower the piece but to add that little something extra when viewed in the right light.
